In March our division advertised they were starting a sprint triathlon training group and I thought, why not....three months of scheduled training would be good for me. So for the next three months I ran, biked and swam in preparation for June 24th. Workouts didn't always go as planned, Adam would have to work, Bennett was in the hospital or the huge amount of rain seemed to hinder my workout schedule. But never the less June 24th came and I successfully completed the triathlon In 1 hour and 36 min and 48 seconds, a time I am proud of.
A triathlon takes a lot of planning and organizing as you will see from the pictures.
A HUGE thanks to my mom and dad, Bennett, Gavin and Sheila for being my personal cheering squad. Adam was working a shut down and actually worked 19 hours today, he was there in spirit along with the sign he made.
Heading into the pool for the 750 meter swim, I'm the one in the bight bathing suit.
First transition from swimming to biking
Starting the 20 km bike up a huge hill!
Back with a smile on my face
Sheila and my boys, I can't forget to mention the sign.
Second transition from the bike to the 5 km run
Carrie from my home town after she finished
My boys were waiting to help me across the finish line, the best motivation ever!
Here is the group that I trained with for 3 months, I didn't make it in the picture because my boys were done waiting and hanging around all morning. Mommy duties always come first!
This is info is more for my memory ( Swim 15:44, Bike 51:44, Run 29:21) Placed 33 out of 117 for woman.
